Background

Lamar Legend is a non-binary actor/writer/director and began their career at The High School for the Performing Arts (aka The "Fame" School/LAG Arts) in New York City as an actor. They then trained as a dancer at The Alvin Ailey Dance School. And later in Chicago they combined their love of classical works with physical theatre beginning their career as a director. Since then Lamar has worked at The Steppenwolf Theater, Chicago Shakespeare Theater, Seattle Opera, Seattle Repertory Theater, The Intiman, Teatro Franco Parenti in Milan and many others.

As a playwright they’ve written and adapted original and classical works for companies in New York, Chicago, Seattle, and LA, as well as abroad in Italy, Prague, and Mexico. And as a screenwriter Lamar's pilot scripts have won up to fifteen finalist awards in competitive competitions, featured on The Black List's Top Recommended Scripts and ranked in the Top 1% on Coverfly's Red List.  Recently, they were a finalist in ScreenCraft's 2021 TV Pilot Competition and they've had generals with EPs & Showrunners at Shondaland, AppleTV, Sony and Paramount.

They are currently represented by 3 Arts Entertainment.
